“Nilotica, or East African Shea Butter is made from the nut of the Vitellaria Nilotica, a sub species of the Karite tree. Native to East Africa, Shea Nilotica is much rarer and higher in conditioning properties than the Western Shea Butter. This soft and fluffy Shea Nilotica melts easily into the skin giving it intensive moisture, suppleness and silkiness.”

How can I use my East African Shea?
The Bandalé Team have enjoyed using This butter in a variety of ways ranging from general moisturisation for baby to getting adventurous mixing it with other things. Here are a few suggestions on how you can incorporate it into your skin /hair health routines.
- Rub me into Afro hair after washing for deep moisturising and comb through with a good quality smooth seamed wide tooth comb.
- Rub me into the ends of European hair to moisturise and help reduce breakage
- Use me as a head to toe moisturiser
- Massage me into baby’s skin for head to toe moisturisation when the vernix has absorbed and or as a nappy cream to keep nappy rash at bay
- apply directly to scalp after a wash to moisturise and relieve irritation.

I have has psoriasis for about 12 years now. I have tried everything to keep it at bay, all the creams and potions from the GP and over the counter chemist remedies. A lady at my work told me about this product, she lives in Walthamstow and was a customer of the Bandale stall there. She picked me up a pot of this product, to be fair I was sceptical but I tried it. I am now on pot 3 and have picked up another 2 at the weekend. It won’t cure my psoriasis but it helps with the itching and drying out and it is looking better than it has for years. Thanks Guys.

Shea East is of a smoother oil rich texture than Shea West. It absorbs well and is great to be used neat on the skin. I use this for head to toe moisture and on my hair after washing with Bandale’s black soap. I am so glad to see Bandale has gone from strength to strength.
I’ve been using this product for years and i would highly recommend trying it. It’s truly amazing and it makes your skin feel extra soft.

I have MCAS, EDS, and am on Accutane so I have very sensitive, fragile, dry skin, and am allergic to most cosmetics. I started using plain shea butter since it was in a lot of eczema-friendly products I was using and I wouldn’t have to worry about essential oils or artificial fragrance, then read about shea nilotica and have really wanted to try it for a while. I don’t normally leave reviews for things, but I spent days looking at different sellers for shea nilotica and am really glad that I bought it from here. It’s well priced, smells AMAZING (like fresh coffee!! I can’t use any sort of perfume and the natural smell of this makes me so happy!!), melts so much faster than regular shea butter, and doesn’t have a thick/waxy feel to it.
